Our Scholarships

National Scholarship

This is an annual scholarship  program for undergraduate and graduate Latino students.

Award Amount: $500 to $2000

2025 LULF Scholarship

The 2025 LULF National Scholarship will be awarded at a value of $1,000 on a competitive basis to 7 undergraduate and graduate school students who meet the criteria as described below and abide by the requirements. Of the 7 national scholarships, 2 will be awarded to students with permanent residence in New York State regardless of their college or university enrollment in the U.S.

GLC SCHOLARSHIP

The Gay Latino Collective (GLC) Mateo Gomez Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to one undergraduate student who identifies as LGBTQ+.

Award Amount: $1000

2025 GLC Scholarship

The Gay Latino Collective (GLC) Mateo Gomez Memorial Scholarship will be awared at a value of $1,000 to one undergraduate student who identifies as LGBTQ+, has a plan to study abroad, and opts to be considered for the scholarship. All of the eligibility criteria and requirements below must be met and candidates must answer one additional essay question. Graduate school students are NOT eligible for the GLC Mateo Gomez Memorial Scholarship.

Remembering Mateo Gomez

The Gay Latino Collective (GLC) Mateo Gomez Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of Mateo Gomez, a vibrant member of our community who embodied courage, kindness, and determination.

Born in Medellín and raised in the U.S., Mateo was a Cornell graduate who dedicated his life to service, from Teach For America to the FBI.

He was a leader in LGBTQ+ and Latino communities in San Francisco and New York, and in 2022 pursued a master’s at Harvard Kennedy School to further his mission of inclusion and advocacy. Mateo is remembered for his brilliance, kindness, and commitment to empowering others.

She aims to work in education policy and curriculum design to help Latino students feel “seen, heard, and capable of academic success, not in spite of their culture, but because of it.”

Erika is a single mother of three and a survivor of domestic violence pursuing her graduate degree in social work. After losing her job due to an unpaid internship requirement, she has relied on community resources and scholarships to continue her studies. This scholarship would give her the support to complete her Licensed Master Social Worker credential and provide therapeutic services to children who have experienced trauma.
